WeTrack Planning allows you to create dependencies between tasks. Dependencies are when one task relies in some way on another task being completed. This allows you to not only plan your work, but also to be notified about changes to tasks upon which your task depends (changes to tasks which are upstream of your task). Dependencies will trigger a notification when changes to upstream dependencies are made, but there are no automatic updates to the dependent task.
You can view and add dependencies on the task's details page as well as on the Gantt Chart. The Gantt Chart view is recommended for the easiest visual editing of dependencies, although this makes it more difficult to add dependencies between tasks in different projects. For more information and instructions, see Dependencies in the Gantt Chart.
On the task's details page, go to the Details sidebar and open the Dependencies section. Toggle Upstream and Downstream to view those dependencies; you can also click + Dependency and toggle Upstream and Downstream to view a list of all dependent tasks.
To add a new dependency:
- Click + Dependency. The Add Dependencies modal opens.
- Select whether the dependency should be Upstream (this task depends on the task you are selecting) or Downstream (the task you are selecting depends on this task).
- Search and filter to find the task or tasks, and select them. You can also choose to only show tasks with due dates which are before your task's due date for upstream dependencies or after your task's due date for downstream dependencies.
- Click Add Dependencies.
