Tasks can be broken down into sub-tasks, which are the component pieces of work that make up a task. For more about sub-tasks, see About Tasks and Sub-Tasks.
Sub-tasks can be added several places:
- On a project details page, go to the Tasks tab. Click the three-dot menu by a task and click Add Sub-task. The Add Sub-task modal opens.
- On a task details page, click Add in the Sub-tasks section. The Add Sub-task modal opens.
- On the Gantt chart, click the plus button at the top of the page to put the Gantt in Add mode; a column of + plus signs will display. Expand the project and click the plus by the task you want to add a sub-task to. The Add Sub-task modal opens.
In the Add Sub-task drawer:
- Task Title: Name the sub-task. The parent task, task group, and project will already be assigned and cannot be edited.
- RAG Status: Select the RAG status for the task. This will default to Grey/New.
- Start Date: Select the date when work on the sub-task should begin. This date becomes the baseline start date and is used as a reference in case start and due dates are then changed, allowing you to see how far before or after the original dates you are.
- Due Date: Select the date when the sub-task is due. This date becomes the baseline due date and is used as a reference in case start and due dates are then changed, allowing you to see how far before or after the original dates you are.
- Assign Owners, Groups, and Departments. Click the star on a department to make it the primary department.
- Priority: Select a priority (one to three stars).
- Completion: Select a percentage complete. If this is a new sub-task with no work done, select 0%.
- Description: Click Add a description to open a rich text editor where you can add a description and additional details about the sub-task.
- Headline Status: Add a high-level summary of the status of the sub-task.
