Departments represent the groups of personnel in your organization, such as Catering, Client Services, Operations, Security, and more. Users (both Employees and External users) are added to a department. Projects, tasks, risks, jobs and more are assigned to or associated with departments, and you can adjust permissions so that users can only see or edit projects owned by their department. Many lists throughout the application can be filtered by department.
Departments can be grouped into Department Categories, which can then be used in filtering and reporting. Department Categories are optional. If you are going to use Department Categories, we recommend, you create those before creating the departments so they can be assigned to the departments as you create them.
